A Hindu Shuffle is an alternative way of shuffling, that can easily be adapted to use as a force, control or false shuffle.
Hindu Shuffle
Pictures
1. Photo 1
Method
Hold the cards from the top in your right hand, with the left hand held as in photo 1.
Move the right hand over to the left hand, and with the left hand take a small packet off the top (photo 2) and let this drop into the left hand as you move the right hand back (photo 3).
Repeat this action again until you have shuffled the deck.
To perform a force:
Have the force card on the bottom of the deck. Begin hindu shuffling and let the spectator stop you whenever they like. Show them the bottom card of the packet in your right hand (the force card) and tell them to remember it. Spectators always seem to think that it came from the middle of the deck.

| OneEyedWonder 13th Aug 06 | very nice.. alwasy wondered how and what ppl were talkin bout when they said hindu shuffle | |
| Blues 16th Aug 06 | The force only works for very inexperienced audience. Those who shuffle cards using the Hindu shuffle will never fall for it | |
| cardmystic 22nd Aug 06 | very good force, and very good explanation. I'll tick that one off on my list! | |
| nicky48 22nd Aug 06 | u can use card controlling using the hindu shuffle | |
| piab 25th Aug 06 | Quality force so easy to do you can do it 1st time. | |
| magicbloodshed 30th Aug 06 | i like the technique and i also like your black tiger deck :P | |
| cotyt94 31st Aug 06 | ya but the force doesnt make sense. you can always glimpse if you are good but for noobs it will be too obvious. you wont be able to keep getting the force card on the bottom of each packet each time you shuffle. especially if theys say to stop. so you shuld make a slight cut each time you put the top packet on bottom until they say stop. | |
| Marrick 31st Aug 06 | good explanation, but its hard to do, i think i almost got it | |
| gwching 2nd Sep 06 | Yea it is just some simple way to keep the card on top of the deck. Actually there is other method which give better effect =) | |
| gtbeast23 3rd Sep 06 | The hardest part is doing it as shown on step 4 and splitting the deck. Try holding it longways facing toward you when doing this to make it split easier | |
| jordy 18th Sep 06 | oh it really clears my concept of the hindu shuffle thx | |
| genrusty 27th Sep 06 | Very simple shuffle and the force works every time | |
| Tama 17th Oct 06 | I get it but not as great as everyone made it sound | |

| Gamerfreek11 7th Nov 06 | Thanks (^^)b, i need this help, my friend would tell me how to do it and i got really mad at him | |
| dinod 9th Nov 06 | This is a very nice force to use especially if you don't know how to do the classic force. | |
| babolatpdtp 2nd Dec 06 | It seems like it would be quite noticeable to the spectator that the top never goes in the middle or bottom. Does anyone ever have a problem with that? | |
| Pyromaniac 6th Dec 06 | love the explanation. I use this moderately. cos if specs think too much about the shuffle, it becomes obvious. even my grandma does hindu shuffles. though she doesn't know it. serious. | |
| jakethesnake9 16th Dec 06 | i think i am doing it wrong but when i do this the cards get mixed up, are they supposed to? | |
| magicalmaster 1st Jan 07 | very easy and effective shuffle. Very clear explanation. | |

| Yexo 11th Feb 07 | This is very useful. I didnt understand what people meant while mentioning this until now. THank you | |
| aceofangels5 16th Feb 07 | Very useful, and I remember seeing this in one other trick in Magic Hat. | |
| Snakeman 22nd Feb 07 | Very nice. I got the whole idea from 4 pictures, good stuff, thx. | |
| Phate 22nd Feb 07 | Well, it works, doesn't it? You just have to practice a little to be able to do it at speed, but then you're set to go. :) 4/5 | |
| Snakeman 27th Feb 07 | Another good false shuffle, helps with forces. Good pics, thx! | |
| n2hf1st 27th Feb 07 | Snakeman, it's not a false shuffle - the hindu really does mix the cards up. Good explanation though... you should have explained the hindu shuffle control as well, though ;) | |
| Meek 26th Mar 07 | Explanation could be better you make it appear as if the bottom card still stays on the botoom afterwards. | |
| ShadowBurned 31st Mar 07 | right, ill get to practising that right away. | |
| Tim123 11th Apr 07 | Your directions are a little hard to understand. I do not get it. | |
| mossimo 12th Apr 07 | Can you explain the force part better its hard to understand if you do the shuffle the bottom card does not stay on the bottom and if you do it again it still won't be on the bottom. Can someone send me a message explaining this | |
| hardinge 15th Apr 07 | i knew this as the running cut and know a cunning false version of it | |
| rossco 17th Apr 07 | Mossimo in response to your post. Step 1.While holding the deck in your left hand, reach across with your right hand and pull out the bottom half or better of the deck and let the remainder fall into your left hand. Step 2. Move the cards in the right hand towards the cards in your left hand, with the thumb on one side of the deck an your fingers on the other side (long side of deck)grasp and pull a small packet of cards FROM THE TOP of the pile of cards you hold in your right hand. Step 3. repeat several times You will notice that you always have the bottom card in your right hand on the bottom of the pile. Step 4. when the spectator says STOP simply show them the bottom of the remaining pile in your RIGHT HAND. This will always be the bottom card of the deck with which you started (very deceiving when practiced a little bit) Hope this helps u understand this more. It is certainly worth learning. | |
| Far 18th Apr 07 | it seems hard to do but with practice it can help you a lot in the long run. | |
| tdawgpb 15th May 07 | **The Hindu Shuffle is frequently used to simply keep a card on the bottom of the deck. The trick to doing this is taking the bottom card (its okay if you grab more than one) when you perform the first grab from the top. You then let the top portion fall onto the bottom card and the bottom card remains the bottom card throughout the shuffle. It takes practice to be able to grab the bottom card with the sides of your fingers. | |
| MagicMagicianMan 17th May 07 | Very good explanation of the hindu shuffle but i do hav an easier and better looking alternative | |
| oddbit 30th May 07 | Folks, you don't split the deck, you slide the cards off the top into the Lhand. You don't lose the forced card and get it back, it is always on the bottom (not top) of the RH pile. babo: magicians have been getting away with similar for years, otherwise we wouldn't be here. Jake: the only card of concern is the bottom one. N2H/hardinge: if there's more to this then submit it or write it here as a comment, pls. Tim/moss: the bottom card in RH remains the bottom card in RH. | |
| ckurz7000 6th Jun 07 | You can use the Hindu also to retain the top card. After dropping the first packet, pick up a small portion of it when you drop the 2nd packet and keep a small break. When you have dropped all the cards above the break into your left hand, simply drop the cards below the break as one and the top card stays the same. | |
| LevitatingBaloon 17th Jun 07 | I under stand the shuffling part, but the force...what is the point of it? Wouldnt the spectator see you shuffling from the top? | |
| rossgarwood 17th Jul 07 | I thought the force was a bit lame but i just tryed it out in a trick and its incredible. the guy was begging for answers. of corse i didn't tell him but awsome. i never thought it would work. | |
| pirate7175 4th Aug 07 | whatever you do, REMEMBER THIS FORCE, it will come in handy in later tricks | |
| J07D14M0ND3 16th Aug 07 | simple but yet very effective | |
| dinglefritz 15th Nov 08 | This card force works very well! If in doubt just try it . You will be pleasantly surprised. | |
| Haurein 14th Aug 09 | gut gut | |
| jtpersonman 5th May 11 | this made it seem a lot simpeler than other people | |
